North Fork Residence
This new house, in a neighborhood of modestly scaled houses in an historic village on the North Fork of Long Island, responds to the context and to our client’s desire for a classic design with elegantly proportioned and detailed rooms which would complement her collection of fine traditional furniture. Our solution was to create what appears to be a single-story cottage, with symmetrical bays and an embracing, dominant roof. An avid gardener and cook, the client entertains frequently. The house was designed to create a gracious flow between the dining room, living room, and the screened porch and outdoor terrace, which have views across lawn, garden, and farm fields to Gardiner Bay.
