Sited on a spectacular granite ledge at the top of a gentle slope overlooking the Eastern Way, this vacation house looks toward Bunker Ledge, Sutton Island and the approach to Seal Harbor, Maine. The house is carefully nestled into its site to take advantage of the views and to achieve optimal room orientations. The plan of the long, shallow house—essentially one room deep—is bent to conform to the contours of the granite ledge and to maximize natural light and ventilation. A traditional material palette of cedar shingles and wood trim painted a dark blue-green harmonize with the surrounding woodland.
