New Leaf Café
The restoration of the New Leaf Café in Fort Tryon Park for the non-profit New York Restoration Project was designed to respect the fabric and spirit of the original building and keep our efforts essentially invisible, while executing a substantial amount of new work. Phase I included repair and stabilization of the building exterior, renovation of the front and rear dining rooms (including creation of a doorway between the two rooms, insertion of a bar and serving stations, and addition of wainscoting), insertion of an ADA-compliant bathroom, and installation of a new commercial kitchen. A stone-paved terrace to the south of the building was also rehabilitated and made usable for outdoor dining and events. In subsequent phases we carried out the renovation of the lower level bathrooms, and designed a new prep kitchen, restoration of the building exterior and terrace, and installation of a geothermal heating and cooling plant.
