This project called for the extensive renovation of an early 20th century apartment for a couple with two small children. Our clients were keen to recreate the character and elegant detailing of the original apartment despite the need to completely gut the space to add new electrical and plumbing services and central air-conditioning. The new plan maintains the principal formal rooms in their original locations, while designing a completely reconfigured kitchen and children’s areas more suited to contemporary family life; improving circulation; and adding storage. Our detailing of the interiors included new parquet floors as well as custom millwork, plaster mouldings, and light fixtures.
